Qwanoes Staff Team
The leaders of the Kaléo program are a gifted and experienced Quanoes team members who have a deep love for God, serving in ministry, academics, adventure and developing young people into solid Christian leaders. The students will be challenged, encouraged and blessed by this team!
Shane Pickel, Kaléo Program Leader
Shane is a proven and enthusiastic developer of kingdom leaders.
He comes from Ontario where he has been lead pastoring for
the last eleven years and before that, as an Associate Pastor for
On top of having an extensive relationship with leading church ministries, Shane is also deeply committed to leading our NOW generation to realize God's potential in their lives. With creativity and passion, he lives to bring others into community where equity and love are central; where young leaders are guided and encouraged in Kingdom life and purpose; where individuals are invited to identify their gifts and the use of their talents from a missional leadership context. He believes that the core of building effective leaders is a process of becoming like Jesus' affections, thoughts & behaviour.
Hannah Ayton, Assistant Kaléo Program Leader
Hannah is originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She has a degree in Psychology from Briercrest College, a degree in Social Work from Minot State University and completed the Kaléo Program at Camp Qwanoes in 2012. Hannah served for six summers at camps in Ontario and Manitoba before joining the Qwanoes team as the Assistant Kaléo Program Leader in 2016. Hannah also brings administrative and interpersonal experience as she is a Registered Social Worker in Ontario. During the summer season, Hannah supports the Qwanoes summer leadership programs. She has a passion for walking beside young men and women on their faith journey as they come to learn more and grow in their understanding of Christ and of themselves.
Isaiah Moffatt, Qwanoes Intern (Focus in Kaléo Program)
Isaiah has a Heart that is set on God. He has grown from a boy who has no knowledge of the God to seeking a career in the pastoral ministry field. After high school, Isaiah completed the Kaléo program and has been working at Briercrest, waiting to see what God had planned for him. Isaiah wishes to facilitate a place where young men and women can grown into spiritual powerhouses set on changing the world for the glory of God.
Rachel Nelson, Qwanoes Intern (Focus in Kaléo Program)
Rachel is a graduate of Briercrest College with a degree in Christian Ministry. She was born and raised in Minnesota, but has spent the last four years in Canada as she had been pursing her degree through Briercrest College. She completed the Kaléo program in 2013 and worked as a senior counsellor during the summer of 2013 at Qwanoes. This summer she has been working at Qwanoes since the end of this April as one of the female assistant head counsellors. She has a passion for watching and walking alongside others as they grow in the faith and their relationships with Jesus.
